This is a lovely hotel which is well situated for the port, the shopping area and the old town walls. The staff are exceptional and make your stay thoroughly enjoyable. Will definitely stay here on my next visit to Southampton.

So disappointed.
Having stayed here before we decided to return. We particularly enjoyed the light airy restaurant area where you could have a nice relaxed meal from an extensive menu.
When we arrived we were concerned that a different name was on top of the hotel. We parked up and managed to find a space - even though a huge section was cordoned off and unavailable. Sign to reception indicated it was round the back. We headed to an open door but were unsure where to go. There was a large group of staff congregated around the door. When they moved we could see they were in front of a reception sign. Reception was dark and dingy. Receptionist was welcoming and checked us in, and directed us to the lifts. We had to go through an area that was flanked by sheets of plastic and sticky tape. We found our room and noticed that next to it was a room blocked off with black cardboard and sticky tape.
Room itself was absolutely fine, clean, with comfy beds and everything we needed for a one night stay.
We scanned the QR code and spent a while looking through the menu and chose our preferences. Having gone downstairs we discovered that rather than the lovely airy place we remembered and had been promised online, instead it was a dark boxy room at the back of the hotel. It was empty and had no ambience and we were shown to a table and given a menu. This menu was a shadow of the menu we saw in the room - probably a quarter of the items were now available. Our choices had disappeared. We left and ate elsewhere. Apparently as the menu change happened at a weekend guests were not advised.
Whilst it is inevitable that hotels update and have building works sometimes - at least warn your customers.
The website was still showing the lobby and restaurant as it was on our last visit when we booked a short while ago. No mention of building works, restricted parking, closing of restaurant and new menu. Even the info in the room was completely wrong!!
They could have put an advisory on the website, and advised when booking of the restrictions. I had 2 emails inviting me to upgrade in the week before the booking but no mention of the changes. No mention was made at reception when we checked in. No amended menu was displayed in the room or outside the restaurant area until later in the evening. Breakfast was fine but again in the dark dingy box room.
We did have our car park refunded when we expressed our concerns on checkout.
The way they went about this and blindsided us showed total lack of respect for their guests. I prefer to stay at hotels that actually provide what you book or advise of changes. Most definitely will not go there again.

We were very pleased to see the high standard of refurbishment recently carried out to the whole hotel, supported by friendly and helpful staff across the board. We will defiantly be staying again before our next cruise.

The hotel was under construction, but the staff went above and beyond to make sure the stay was comfortable. The entire hotel is extremely clean. The rooms are freshly renovated with wonderful bedding and nice towels. Sockets everywhere. So convenient! And, free espresso drinks from 2 machines in the lobby. The cappuccino is delicious! Also very convenient to walk to restaurants and to the NOC. If I have to come back to Southampton, I will definitely stay here again.

During my 4 nights stay. The cleaning person only did one day cleaning on my room. the next 2 day i need to go down to reception desk to ask the fresh towels. The 4th day still no one clean my room until I go down to reception desk to complaint again. Finally the call someone to clean my room almost after 5 PM. All hotels i have stayed, they always do a daily cleaning except for this one.

We arrived at the hotel 31/3/25 and were shocked to see what can only be described as a building site outside! We were really annoyed as I would have thought with the amount of work going on we should have been informed, this was really poor customer service on the hotels part. Parking was really difficult and there were no disabled spaces that we could see. On checking in the receptionist advised we had an upgrade……this turned out not to be as good as it sounded on floor 3 front facing as work was being carried out on the lifts and also extensive heavy work to the front with horrendous noise ( we travelled from Glasgow and were up at 4 in the morning so hoped to get our heads down for a couple of hours on arrival, this was impossible!). We did look at the possibility of booking another hotel but either prices were too expensive or there was no availability. After discussing with the Manager as we had already booked the evening dinner in the hotel restaurant we were told 50% would be deducted from each main meal, we agreed thinking this was a decent gesture but the menu changed that day, we both chose the crispy chicken schnitzel and some kind of garlic potatoes, the meal was very poor and certainly not crispy. What really annoyed both myself and wife was on checking out when the receptionist asked if we had a good stay, we said no not really, it’s like living on a building site. The receptionist just laughed, i advised it really wasn’t a laughing matter and at that we’re met with silence!! We have used this hotel numerous times over the last 20 years of cruising and had several issues over the last 3 years. This time we will definitely not be returning, which is disappointing as the hotel is a great location.

The hotel is undergoing a full refurbishment and we actually thought it was closed when we arrived. It would have helped to have some external signage on the approach.
We were greeted at reception by Priya who went out of her way to give an exceptional welcome. She allocated us one of the newly renovated rooms which was beautiful. The service provided by Priya was superb.
Despite the extensive works in the hotel, they still managed to deliver a very pleasant experience in the bar and restaurant where we enjoyed an excellent dinner. All of the staff that we interacted with where very courteous and friendly.
Upon leaving I booked a return visit with Jose who was doing a million things at once but still managed to deliver a first class customer experience.
I am looking forward to my next visit to see the hotel completed.
The sleep quality and ability to relax were marked down purely to do with the noisy works in the morning
